On my 2008 650 Prowler, except for the hood, there is no piece of plastic which has not cracked or broken out. Noticed first the flooring fasteners at the bottom front breaking the plastic return (vertical), on the same part the fasteners to the frame on the seat sides ..... virtually all locations where fasteners are located the plastic has cracked or is broken out. Same for the dash on the sides on top and underneath, the rear box melted underneath from the exhaust, so I fitted a heat shield, ..... .

Can one buy a "package" of these plastic parts at a reasonable price, am I too hard a driver? Are the cat's made only for temperate climate or is the sun doing this here in Mexico?

Has the after market come up with some better solutions?

Your input would be appreciated!

the floor of my dump box cracked about 2" in the middle just out of the blue.. that is it so far besides melting plastic.

My floor board has some cracks around the screws also,I put washers behind the screw heads.also I have a crack all the way down my inner tail gate panel.I come out in the garage one day and it was there,I don't even haul anything in it.Like Brian said I think it is heat related,my garage gets hot in the summer,and in the winter I keep it heated with wood so it gets hot and cold.????????????

Thanks for the feedback folks! Is there someone in the after market who offers say the flooring and the rear box out of aluminum? I may buy some checkered aluminum and bring it here to Mexico and have stuff that's easily copied done. I'm sure the "fire wall" and the dash panel may be too complicated, unless they are straightened from their ergonomic design. I'm sure the sun does have a negative effect on the plastic.

I think if you could fab it do the whole inside of the bed in aluminum,If you use the bed on your buggy for work alum would be great,tail gate latches would be a good Idea also,as the bedsides seem to spread.

de3 I'll buy some checkered aluminum sheeting and have it fabricated here in Loreto. Will see how it turns out. You guy's have helped me solving problems, so that instead of buying a new unit, I decided to "upgrade" this unit......

I think up grading is a good idea! But I usually hold on to things until they quit running then either park them, or repair and drive some more. Stay in touch Manfred!

Fairmont, I'm the same when it comes to holding on to things...On my boat, a Parker 23ft hull #1, Volvo diesel,1995, I did a "midlife" overhaul for about 30K, adding bow pulpit, electric windlass, new radar & electronics, seats.....I have a 1984 ford F250 diesel truck 4WD, where I had to replace the engine because of a thin spot in the casting Ford did not cover (2k miles outside the warranty). Bought another older F truck, swapped the engine out and saved the new tranny & radiator....Have the last 5cylinder Mercedes made, 1985 with over 350k miles, just keeps going strong, and a 2002 GMC Duramax Sierra with over 100k miles mainly for my Bigfoot camper and to piggyback the AC...

I looked seriously at new UTV's, would have liked a Turbo diesel one, but not on the market. The AC has a higher road clearance than the Rhino's and others for which I initially bought it. I basically left it stock, so I can carry it in the Duramax bed if I don't want to tow it on it's trailer. New units cost about 15k, have a bit more power,higher speed, fuel injection, a seat bench, disc brakes f&r, tilted steering wheel and better seat belts.

Here I drive normally without seat belts, I don't need tilted steering wheel and power steering, vehicle stops fine with the brakes provided and steering wheel is in the right place, the 650cc engine is strong enough, 45mph fast enough (I drive vehicle daily here), I have a 2nd engine, my original one bored out to 700cc and 2,5k put in to fix, with a minor issue left....I like the cat and what I have done with it, thus a "midlife overhaul" is in order and cost saving. I'll do the gauges of course and address corrosion and plastic issues. Will keep you posted how things work out.....
