Yes right but it gets more relaxed with the pressure"s off the secoundary. I am a pretty good Mech and have changed lots of belts on sleds ,atvs, and utvs but this is baffling, I wonder if there isnt a belt removal tool for this. They have one for the thunder cat snowmobile I seen on ebay.

There is a downloadable manual from some mower shop in Arizona, listed on this forum somewhere. I downloaded it the other day and it is great. Just type in XTZ manual in this site's search engine and it will lead you to there. It has the belt/clutch assy. repair section. And thanks to whoever posted it.

I used the longest bolt that holds the "drink holder" compartment to the floor (back ones). Worked great, when your out of threads, it's just enough. To remove I pulled it all the way to front clutch and rolled it off, top to bottom in forward motion. To install, front clutch first then roll around the back clutch in reverse from top to bottom. It's tight, watch you fingers as the housing is sharp. Maybe remove the gasket so you don't tear it!! :)
Bit of a rubics cube to me at first, sledding experience helped this problem alot!

just changed the belt on my 07 650, had to run the 6mm in on the secondary and then pull the nut and washer off the primary. i tried everything to keep from pulling the primary but could not roll the old one off to put the new one on
