I would like to buy a used metal seat base, complete with latch mechanism, for my 2009 Prowler XTZ 1000.

Thanks. I had checked them (and others) before I posted here. With as many modified Prowlers as there are, I was hoping someone would have a used OEM seat base laying around, unwanted, in the corner of their shop and would sell it at less than a new one's price.

I am in no hurry. I will see if this post gets any results in the next few weeks and, if it doesn't, I will just buy a new one.

believe most that have switched seats to aftermarket re-use the base with the new seats .. there are a couple race only buggies here but most of those guys no longer post or are at best semi active ..

might look at some of the racer shops and contact them for their cast off's for the needed part ????????

Hard to believe they get 80.00 + for the seat base and latch! I have a seat base, but no latch! Not sure what shipping would run! 35.00 for the seat base, plus shipping. PM me if interested.

I appreciate the replies and suggestions. I now live in a rural county in NW Oklahoma. There are no race shops here. I don't think there is another Arctic Cat within 50 miles.

Arcticcatpartshouse.com has the base and latch assembly for $64, plus shipping, brand new.

I was hoping to get a used assembly for substantially less. I am going to abandon my project of using a seat base to build a rifle rack on and look at other options.

Thank you all!

Thank you VERY much!

I just bought it. I hope the 550 frame is the same as the 1000 frame. It sure looks like it.

I won't need the base pin, as my Prowler has it already.

At least parts are still out there! I think I'm going to inventory all of my spare stuff, then see what I can get by without!

#11 ·
You'll probably have a garage sale the will make Powersports Nation jealous

#12 ·
Unreal how fast you get accumulate stuff! I'm in my Prowler for life! LOL, made a decision to buy stuff at every opportunity! No body panels except for the bolt on fenders! If the box gets totaled, I'm going with a flat bed! Might do that anyway!

I'm pretty sure the share the same part number. Making a gun rack out of one is a great idea! Let us know how it worked out.

I am glad that you missed that part...LOL.

It should not take too long to make what I think will work. Pic(s) will be posted.

We do steel all good ideas! LOL

The seat base arrived today. It is complete with the latch (as shown in the eBay photo). It was boxed securely.

It is going to take a while to get the rust off with a rotary wire brush before I can start adapting my two gun rifle stand to it. I will take regular photos along the way, documenting my progress (or lack of) and build a photobucket folder to view them in when I am done.

Welcome Mitch! Think I missed you before!

Mitch,

Thank you for the info. Swinford sold out last year to Livingston. Livingston is on Hwy 51, between Stillwater downtown and Interstate 35.

Livingston Machinery Company

Livingston sells and services Arctic Cat, but is not listed on Arctic Cat's list of Oklahoma dealers. (125 miles from me - one way)

Midwest Motorsports in Cordell, sells and services Arctic cat, but is also not listed on Arctic Cat's list of dealers. (85 miles from me - one way)

Mid America Cycle on Hwy 77, in Edmond, is the nearest (to me) Arctic Cat dealer that is on the Arctic Cat list of dealers. (135 miles from me - one way)

Note:
As I work on building the gun rack on the seat base, I am going to open a new thread in the Projects section and not continue here

#25 ·
Look forward to watching your build in the projects section! AC dealers are never close!

I posted the info on the dealers mostly so that Mitch would know that the dealer he suggested was no longer in business and to give him alternatives, should he need a dealer.

I am used to having to travel distances for most of everything nowadays. Living on the farm is great, but it has its drawbacks. It is 20 miles to the nearest soft drink machine....LOL. It is also 20 miles to the nearest gas station and to the nearest post office that accepts credit cards. I have a rural post office just 5 miles away, but I think they only accept chickens and livestock in trade for postage..

Work on my project is at a standstill until the weather improves. It looks like that will happen on Monday, next week.
