My 2012 prowler 1000xtz lacks power and the plugs are carboned up. I'm thinking it's a clogged spark arrester. I can't get the plate and what I think is the arrested out of the end of the muffler. Am I correct in the spark arrester is under the plate (held on by three screws) by the tail pipe in the muffler? when removing the three screws they were held in by carbon but came out. I can't get the cover plate, or the arrester out more than 1/8 " don't want to damage it as I can't seem to locate a replacement if I damage this one.
1. Am I correct the spark arrested is located under this cover plate on the back end of the muffler?
2. Is it possible its so carbon we up and is just tight?
3. Any ideas or a course for a replacement arrester?

Yes that's where it is on my old 650, it's been a long time since I checked mine.

Here's some things the service manual suggest for loss of power.

Correction mine is a 2010 not 2012. Finally got to figure out some of my VIN #. Any secret you know of to get the spark arrested out? Destroyed the away as it will come out 1/2" and rotates 360 but gets tight again. Will Ned a new arrester and gasket you know of any source other than Partzilla? I can't see yet the inside of the muffler but can't put $350.00 in a new muffler. Know of any subs to it?

When I buy new parts I get them from CountryCat , used parts from Home page - Power Sports Nation: The Cheapest Used ATV and Side by Side Parts Any aftermarket will probably cost just as much or more. No secret I know of, it should pull out, must have rusted and coming apart maybe?
Thanks for your reply. I will know tomorrow as there is nothing else but to use brute force and rip it out. Next step is remove the entire muffler and destroy another $25.00 part and clean out as well as I can. There has to be a trick to removing this, but the manual even says to remove and clean. Thought removing the three screws and it pulled straight out. It would make more sense to me if I knew what it looked like inside. So far Partzilla is cheapest.

Here's what it looks like SPARK ARRESTER-ASSEMBLY
I have one ordered from Partzilla should have it by time the snow melts. I still have to get the remains of the spark arrester removed without causing additional damage wish I knew what the inside looked like. The only thing I can think of that would cause it to hangup like it is is the crimp clamp on the end hopefully I can get it out.
Thanks again for your assistance.
