Welcome! If you haven't been bitten by the bug, you're going to be. Working on these machines is a lot of fun! Loving my prowler.

I almost got the HDX at the time; but the only HDX the dealer had, didn't have power steering. How do you like it?

My advice, sell it before you stick twice the money in it on accessories! Right RD??? The fun never ends!

I like it but for some reason it just seems cheaply made and underpowered for the trails I use first Elk hunting. The rear diff bottom mounting brackets snapped off at the welds and now I'm in search of a shop to fabricate some new ones and work in my drive shaft as this all snapped while several miles back in national forest trails. For some reason I cant find a shop that will work on arctic cats out here near Payson UT.

Well, that's got to be frustrating. I haven't had that experience. I have been stranded in a national forest before. That's not something I'd like to do again.

Good luck trying to fix the machine. I'd offer my advice, but I know next to nothing compared to the other guys on here.

that has to be a fluke or maybe year produced issue. i have the 2012 hdx and i have done a lot of major heavy pulling with mine and have had no issues. i had the rear receiver beefed up so i could (ahem) really work it lol. the 2000 lb tow rating was going to be tested many many times. i have had more small square bales on a 14 foot trailer than what the trailer was rated for and my hdx still pulled it. i also used my 10 foot trailer to pull bales up a grade. actually a pretty good grade. i now have over 8k miles on it without many issues. mostly wear and tear like wheel bearings, u joints, cv boots, etc. i did have some electrical issues but that wasnt due to the machine, the shop ran the wiring harness over a bar instead of under so it rubbed and grounded out. it had a new motor put in it when i found her. previous owner didnt watch the air filter and it got plugged up and sucked dirt.

here is a pic of the old girl hauling a smaller load of bales just before going up the grade. she did have to grunt pretty good but she made it. ;)

i forgot during all my typing... welcome!

location ?? and hunt area's ?

many of us are trail / woods riders in very remote area's and some do marathon runs pulling trailers in very remote bad terrain with no issues , thinking if you got yours used maybe the previous owner used for jumping etc. or the like without proper maintenance , while your fixing that issue suggest a full inspection for worn or weak parts still hiding yet to break down somewhere.
