I have had this 06 prowler for about 1.5 months. The previous owner and a shop all said that the noise I was hearing was brake chatter and all of them made the noise. The forum seemed to support this theory.
However, I have isolated the brake chatter and eliminated 95% of the noise when braking and taking off. Once I got rid of that noise I noticed another noise that appears giving it a lot of gas. Also when cruising then giving it gas it makes the noise. It has 1800 miles on it.
-It almost seems like bad gas but that was eliminated.
-Adjusted the tappetts, and that was not it.
-Took it to a shop and they never heard that noise before????
-Thought it was the exhaust vibrating due to a bad cone gasket, not it.
-Could be pre ignition detonation but not sure how to check that?
-Thought may be head gasket leak and water was getting into cylinder,
but no water was present in the oil. Head Gasket and cam, rockers, replaced at 1200 miles.
-On top of this when sitting and idling the dummy light came on as it was overheating. got some air through it and it was fine. It did it again tonight. Checked radiator and it was a little low so I added more glycol.
-I tried to attach an MPEG video but it would not let me.
Thoughts welcome as I am out of ideas. thanks
