Just finished putting the cat back together. I removed the oil sump and I took Darylr_Tn advice and replaced the Torx Bolts with flange bolts, sure made it easy to button back up! I cut the plactic skid plate and replaced with diamond plate aluminum under the engine only. Eliminated dropping the whole factory plastic when I need access to the underside of the engine. Also Thanks to Joe 5091 for sharing his misfortune with the forum, I replaced the driven gear with the updated version, also replaced the oil pump (Cheap Insurance?). Many Thanks to all concerned, great info, and advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oil pump

what kind of condition was your oil pump gear in.and how many miles do you have on your prowler.i seen on another post you said it looked wore, was wondering if all the teeth were still on it. what are you working on looks like a drag car.

I have a 2009 700 XTX, 2500 miles. No broken teeth, but the gear was discolored, and had a lot of backlash. New gear tightened up the back lash. I'll see if I can get any decent pictures of the old gear. The old oil pump looks good, but the replacement pump, driven gear, new pin, and snap ring were 100.00 delivered - Cheap piece of mind! I didn't notice a picture of my car was in the post! Yeah, guilty as charged it is my Pro-Street Big Block Ford Fairmont! Boys & Toys forever

I agree with that.so really your gear held up good. nothing saying the new gear wont be wore in 2500 miles. just a thought....................:)but like you said good insurance.but really you shouldnt have to tear a motor down at such low miles to update parts.

I plan on going one step further and replacing my oil pump driven gear when I install my Papa Slap clutches. All of this talk about the driven gear has me worried. Just wish I would have known about it when I replaced my bevel gears as I would have knocked it out then. I'll take pictures of the new gear vs the old when I do it.....

Just sucks, I will be going into that wet clutch area for the 4th time....:(

1. First to replace bevel gears...
2. Second to pull out one way bearing to troubleshoot brake noise....
3. Third to reinstall one way bearing.....
4. Fourth to install new oil pump driven gear......and hopefully the last time...:D

I know where to send my motor when i need to re-build it....................:)
I think I could build one in my sleep now....:D My wife thinks I dream about my Prowler while sleeping, which I probably do...:D

Makes me think of a funny but true story with my wife. One night I was looking for the TV remote and couldn't find it. So I proceeded to chew out my wife by accusing her of losing it and where did she lose it (which typically she does). So I'm at work the following day and I get an email from my wife. She says "guess where I found the da** remote at? I found it out in the da** Prowler. You must of forgot it there when you went out to fondle your precious girlfriend...."):D So needless to say, I never live that one down from her.....:D

LMAO! That's funny!

Regarding the oil stainer... I would still love to meet the dumba** that thought it would be a good idea to put a frame support 1 inch below the bolts to remove the cover! A cover that is lightweight aluminum with a steel plug! Which ones threads do you think are going to give out first? Here's you sign! lol
