I'm looking at picking up an '06 Prowler 650 that I'm going to have to do some repairs somewhere in the transmission/gearing setup (not sure at this point).

Anyway, I was reading over the repair manuals for repairs on the engine/transmission and it lists some specialty tools such as:

-Side Case Puller (p/n 0644-262)
-Crankcase separator/Crankshaft remover (p/n 0444-009)

I did some online searching for these tools and was really shocked to see these tools selling for like $300 each. I'm not sure I'll need these tools yet or not, but wasn't really expecting to spend that kind of money on just tools.

So my question is for you guys that have worked on these machines, did your dealership allow you to rent these tools? What are you guys doing about getting these type of specialty tools to work on your machines because the prices just seem outrageous?

Don't need the side case puller.
Just use heat on the bearing and get all the bolts out.
Some tricky ones in there.

The crank I would take to the shop if you have not done this before.
