i want to put a radio in my xtx. i will use a car stereo and mount speakers on the back of the overhead gage. i want to mount the stereo under the dash and have seen a box that is made to take a din radio and has a water / dust cover flip up. it is made to go in the prowler, and i Had it bookmarked but lost it, does anyone know where i could find a box like that. also if you have suggestions for how to mount the stereo or speakers please let me know. thanks all.

Hey Slumbert, try ebay or crutchfield. The flip up cover is just a marine cover. And the din box you are talking about is just a abs plastic box for mounting a stereo in if i am on the same page.As far as mounting speakers there are a few people making pods for the prowler now. They even have them that will clear the parking brake.
Me i make them myself. Not hard to do.About 30-40 dollars. If you are interested in making your own let me know and i can steer you in the right direction.

Can you post a pic. of the sat. reciever you are using?
Are you gonna run it through the fm tuner on a deck or cd player?
i was messing around with the sat recever and found it does have a volume on it, so i could use a amp. at checker they have a 600 watt 2,3, or 4 channel it's 99$ question : will that amp work and it has a remote wire that would come from a stereo. does it just need 12v, could run from a switch. the sat radio sets on a dock just like a ipod.

Yep you could turn the amp on with a switch. The question is what size fuse does the amp have.Usually a pretty good rule of thumb on how much power the amp really makes.600 watts is about 50-60 amps in real life. There is nobody holding them accountable for there ratings.

I own a car stereo business and use a piece made by Metra for mounting radios under the dash of cars or trucks. It is also good for the Prowler. Go to Metraonline.com and look for the universal under dash kit 99-9000 also the cover you are talking about is also available by them part # 99-9005B. You can purchase these parts by any car stereo shop that sells metra dash kits. Hope this helps.

my amp came ups today, got it all hooked up and when i turn on the amp there is a hum, it is before the sat radio comes on so it is in the amp. ii believe it is all hooked up alright, do i need a filter or noise reducer it happens with or with out the motor running.
