I plowed snow last week and everything worked fine, had to plow this week and 4 wheel drive won't engage. With engine off I can hear the actuator whir like it is engaging. Is there something to rebuild in actuator or do I need to look further? any suggestions greatly appreciated. need to get it working. plowing snow a lot easier and dryer than blowing it.

Well finally got to look at prowler. Have been very busy here crap storm of work and breakdowns lately. I jacked front wheel off ground and tried to turn it with 4 wheel engaged, the front drive shaft tries to rotate I believe indicates 4X4 engaged, correct?

Yes that would indicate that the actuator has engaged that wheel to the drive, however there is one side (can't remember which one) that is permanently driven from the ring gear. the 4wd is just a slip collar that runs over a 2 piece pinion shaft to engage it.

I am suing Artic Cat for selling an atv, where the 4x4 drive does not work. I have been waiting over a year for parts. They said they were working on a new design. I have not been able to use my quad as intended. I have not been able to use the $4000 tracks that I bought from them for the quad. I have asked them to replace my quad with a new one or take the quad back and return my money. They have told me this is not an option.

My attorney is wanting to know any other people that this problem has affected. We are looking to file a class action law suit against Arctic Cat.

Please let me know if you are effected by this engineering problem and if you are interested in participating.

Thanks,
Anthony
